Easy flat hike closer to home today, since I didn’t feel like doing anything strenuous.
This trail has an amazing view of Boulder Valley, the Front Range, and the Indian Peaks behind them, which warrants a “stop and stare” every time.

Wide open, no issue. This trailhead isn’t typically busy.

It’s not the best weather for a clear view of the valley and mountains today due to clouds blocking the sun, but it’s still very nice.
The aforementioned Boulder Valley overlook.
Davidson Mesa is one of, if not the best trail for seeing abundant Black-Tailed Prairie Dogs, who live in burrows that dot the landscape.
I tried to get a good photo of the prairie dogs against the mountain backdrop, but it proved to be tricky… I also felt self conscious looking like a blatant tourist while crouching along the path.
I’m excited to say that I’ve found a way to take better close-up photos of insects. It required an external app that allows for extra camera control options, but now, my bee photos aren’t stupidly grainy. Have a comparison:
